- Why add extra for waste?
- Mixing cups, stir sticks, and uneven surfaces all leave some resin behind unused. A 10% buffer is a commonly used starting point so you don't run short mid-pour — adjust it based on your own experience with a given setup.
- What thickness should I use?
- A single tabletop or bar-top coat is typically about 1/8in (0.125). Deep-pour castings (several inches) use a different, deep-pour-formulated resin — check whether your product is rated for the thickness you're planning, since ordinary tabletop epoxy can overheat and crack in a single deep pour.
- Is this exact enough to buy exactly one kit?
- Treat it as a planning estimate, not a guarantee — round up to the next full kit size and keep the waste buffer, since running short mid-pour is a bigger problem than having a little left over.
